What is Database Activity Monitoring?

The monitoring and analyzing database activity that combines data from network-based monitoring and native audit information to provide a comprehensive picture of database activity. Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) is software that monitors database activity. DAMs are used for the following purposes 1- To detect and prevent unauthorized access to data by hackers, which can be either intentional or accidental,2- To monitor database usage patterns to identify anomalies that might indicate a hacker attack,3- To monitor database usage patterns to identify anomalies that might indicate a system malfunction.
